Just a few reasons why I LOVE my HUSBAND!

We have only been married 13 days, but I am loving every minute of it!  It's so fun to finally be living with Garret, and share this sweet, happy, new time with him.  I really feel like the luckiest, most loved wife in the world!  I have the best husband, friend, and companion EVER!  I just thought I'd jot down a few of the things that have been making me smile since we came home from our honeymoon last weekend.  In no particular order, here they are:

He doesn't yell at me when I forget to turn the stove off

He picks up flowers on his way home from work, just because

Before we fall asleep, we lay in bed and chitchat and laugh and laugh and laugh

When I leave my keys/cell phone/credit card/drivers license out, he makes sure one of us puts them back where they belong so I'm not frantically searching for them later

After all the chitchat and laughing before we fall asleep, he makes it a point to always kiss me goodnight, every single night

When I'm contemplating, he helps me pick out what pair of heels to wear to work

He was as interested, enthusiastic and excited as I was when we picked out and brought home a new garbage can

He didn't get mad at me for accidentally buying a ton of incompatible CBTL capsules instead of K-Cup capsules for our Keurig

He watched Bunheads with me while I caught up on the last three episodes

If he wakes up before me, he gets out of bed, moves about, closes doors and gets ready very quietly

He patiently taught me how to turn on the tv/dvr/playstation/etc.

He's let me tear the whole apartment apart and make it a home (Well, that job is still in process, but we get closer everyday!)

He doesn't say a word when I migrate over to his side of the bed, pushing him closer and closer to falling off the edge

I had a bad dream one night and yelled out in my sleep, and he very sweetly asked me if I was ok and cuddled me until I fell back asleep

He says prayers at dinnertime with me

He helps me with everything; two people are definitely better than just one!

He encourages, supports and inspires me in everything I do!

He makes me feel loved, important, smart and beautiful every single day!

I know I have SO MANY things to blog about, but I couldn't help but share a little happy CHEESE today :)

Stay tuned for posts on the wedding, honeymoon, the pre-celebration festivities, and our new life in general!

$#!* My Dad Says, Wedding Edition

"When Garret walks down the aisle, I'm going to yell, 'Holy crap!  It's the white knight!'"

"I'm going to have Richard swing by on rope in the background when Heather and Garret say 'I do'!"

"Right before the doves are released, I'm going to yell, 'Release the kraken!!'"

I guess it's just nice to see some wedding enthusiasm from him!

33 days and counting

Every week I try to get some things crossed off of our wedding to do list.  This weekend, we sat down, determined to finalize our wedding video song selection.  We only needed one more song when my mom suggested "One Thousand Years" by Christina Perri.

Even though it was on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack and might be considered cheesey, I thought it was a perfect choice.  I love it.

We were driving around yesterday and that song came on the radio.  I started talking to Garret about how appropriate that song is for us, and while considering some of the words, I just started tearing up.

every breath
every hour has come to this
one step closer
i have died every day waiting for you
all along I believed I would find you
time has brought your heart to me
i have loved you for a thousand years
i'll love you for a thousand years
We talk about it often; we have both waited a very long time to find each other.  I have no doubt that some divine intervention had a hand in finally bringing us together.  I feel like I've loved him for a very long time, I feel like we've always been connected somehow; I know that love and bond will last forever.

I always thought the notion of soul mates was a nice fairy tale idea, but that it was all just a myth.  But Garret is my other half completely; I can't explain it any other way.  Though we are each our own person, I truly feel like we share the same heart, the same soul.  I consider myself one half of a lucky few who were fortunate to find the one that completes them.   Soul mates do exist.

I hope this post isn't a cheese and sentiment overload; it's just how I feel.  I feel very lucky and very blessed (not to mention excited!) to be marrying the love of my life in 33 days!  (But, who's counting!?)

25th Birthday Bash!

2012 has been a great year for me, and my birthday was no exception! Thanks to my awesome family and to Garret, my 25th year was ushered in right!

Garret kicked off the birthday celebration the night before: He took me to dinner (Carrabba's. Yum.), gave me diamond earrings (This man is GOOD at gift giving. I've gotten diamonds every holiday and special occasion since we've been together! He is SUCH a keeper!), and then accompanied me to The Secret Garden at the Orem Hale Center Theater.

I LOVED the show. Beautiful music, great performers. We were on the first row, so it was a little awkward to have people just inches away from us, but overall, I think we both really enjoyed it. Me more than Garret, of course, but I think he was surprised and thought it was better than he expected.

I took my actual birthday off, so I got to sleep in, which is always a treat! When I woke up, my mom got me my favorite Starbucks (Venti Soy Chai Latte, thankyouverymuch), and I had a very healthy, non-fat, zero-carb, no calorie breakfast of waffles ;)

Because I had the day off, I went to visit Michele for wedding hairdo trial runs. When I got home, I put on my wedding shoes and my dress; with my hair all pretty and my veil on, I definitely felt like a BRIDE!! It got me even more excited for the big day!! (I wish I could post pictures, but I guess you'll just have to wait til August to see...)

My mom and I waited for Hailee to get home from taking her Medical Assisting certification test. (She PASSED, of course! Wahoo! Go Hailee!), and then we were off to The Grand America for some afternoon tea! Auntie LJ met us there.

Just to mix it up, my mom required that we each wear these beauties on our heads.

A European lady actually came over and asked us where we got our "fascinators", and told us she really liked them. Everyone else in the lobby pretty much just stared at us - both nonchalantly and obviously.

Tea was actually really fun; I loved it! We had yummy finger sandwiches and desserts - Hailee couldn't resist rubbing chocolate on her teeth so she'd look British, and I, of course, couldn't resist joining her. And, of course, we couldn't stop laughing. We were like hillbillies in a five star hotel. Eh! That's how we roll!

As if that all that weren't enough, the celebration continued with pedicures at Aveda; I must say it was one of the best ones I think I've ever had! We went home for some yummy caramel chocolate cake that my dad picked up. I was happy to kill the time at home before Garret and I hopped on the red eye to Pennsylvania (a trip that I'll blog about soon!).

Thanks Mom and Wanda for such a fun day (and thank you Jeannie for being such a good sport and coming to tea!)! It was the perfect was to welcome my 25th year - I think it will be a good one! :)

I'm totally getting the better deal out of this marriage

I already consider myself the luckiest girl on the planet by having Garret in my life, but every day I discover just how deep that luck runs! I don't know what I did to deserve him!

Here is the latest reason of why I am a crazy-lucky wife-to-be:

Garret is a chef. A grilling master.

This past weekend, he grilled up veggies, bacon-wrapped scallops, and last night, flank steak with jalapeƱo peppers, onions and fontina cheese tied into the middle. Sooooo good.

I wanted to help, so I offered to warm up the tortillas. But, I ended up picking the bag up on the wrong end and spilling all but one onto the floor.  So, instead, my contribution for the night was opening a bowl of already-cut and prepared fresh fruit from Harmon's and put a serving spoon in it.

Garret was too busy enjoying his latest culinary triumph to realize he's totally getting the shaft by marrying me. I am definitely getting the better deal here! Hopefully he won't suddenly become aware of this and decide he better find another girl to marry.

T-99 Days!

When we got engaged in February, I kept thinking how we had PLENTY of time to plan the wedding.  Well, on Tuesday, I woke up and it was MAY!  And that means we have THREE MONTHS (exactly 99 days) left!  I am so excited to marry Garret, but I'm starting to stress a little - I know three months is going to fly by so fast!

Luckily, we have been checking things off of our wedding to do list since pretty much the day after we got engaged, so I am grateful for that!  It's so exciting to see everything coming together!!

I've got an incredible support system of family and friends, not to mention that amazing fiance of mine!  My mom has been working overtime in our backyard, and making sure she has everything she needs for the reception.  My cute friends and family are planning different showers, and really everyone has been so helpful with anything and everything I've needed.  I know this wedding and all the events leading up to it will be spectacular!

We met up with our awesome photographer, Melissa, last night and picked up our engagement photos.  Here are a few for your viewing pleasure!

99 days more!!  Baaah!
